What does a vCIO do? Business Opportunity Workshop

We are continuing our series that gives back to the industry answering the question, “What does a vCIO do?” and each article will outline a specific service offering of Outsourced CIO LLC in the day and the life of a vCIO.  Some call this “virtual” Chief Information Officer or “fractional” CIO and for the sake of this series, we will be changing the “v” to mean “VALUED” CIO.  Because the vCIO creates value for growing businesses who might not otherwise be able to afford a Chief Information Officer.  Our topic for today is “Business Opportunity Workshop”

Business Opportunity WorkshopThis is a quarterly project or service estimated at 5-hours.

Deliverable: Scheduling and facilitating workshops to find business opportunities with the Business Model Canvas, with elaboration through 10 point exercises. We present the findings during the Quarterly Business Planning Session.

Description:  Organizations often have way more business opportunities – ‘low hanging fruit’ – than they realize, we’ve found. There’s a wealth of improvements easily implemented, in areas like customer service, the value proposition and many competitive factors, such as client communication, sales, and marketing. Using this unique method these opportunities can be uncovered quickly.  There are always process bottlenecks in every organization. Having a systematic way to review processes from the technology point of view can boost the company’s performance.
